Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over New South Wales is moving eastwards and will reach the east coast tonight. A cold front and associated cloud band over western parts of the State will continue to move eastwards, reaching central and eastern districts late this afternoon and evening. A series of fronts will then cross southern parts of the state before a new ridge of high pressure develops over the Bight early next week.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayAreas of rain about western and southern coasts extending northeastwards to areas southwest of Tarcoola to Renmark by midnight. Fresh and gusty north to northwesterly winds, strong at times ahead of the rain. Winds turning west to southwesterly and easing in the evening. A cool to mild evening.Thursday 21 JuneAreas of rain over the agricultural area far south of the pastoral and West Coast districts, turning to scattered showers from the west during the day. Isolated showers over the remainder south of about Coober Pedy to Broken Hill. Isolated thunderstorms and possible small hail southwest of about Ceduna to Port Augusta to Keith. Generally cool with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds ahead of a west to southwesterly change extending from the west.Friday 22 JuneIsolated showers contracting to the agricultural area and West Coast district by evening. Scattered showers over the southern agricultural area during the early morning then redeveloping about southern coasts and ranges and the Lower South East during the late evening. Chance of Isolated thunderstorms about western and southern coasts. Cool with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds.Saturday 23 JuneScattered showers over the southern agricultural area, isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural and southern parts of the pastoral districts. Showers easing to isolated showers over the agricultural areas during the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms and small hail south of Adelaide to Keith. Generally cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.Sunday 24 JuneIsolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered at first over the southern agricultural area during the morning. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday until midnight Sunday are expected to be 20 to 40 mm over the southern agricultural area, increasing to 40 to 60 mm over the Mount Lofty Ranges, 5 to 20 mm over the northern agricultural area and southern parts of the pastoral districts, and less than 5 mm elsewhere.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and West Coast, contracting to southern coasts on Tuesday and Wednesday. Cool with light to moderate southerly winds, turning northerly on Tuesday and Wednesday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Thursday.Product IDS10033
