Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 19/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over central Australia is slowly moving east extending a ridge into northeastern New South Wales and a cold front is crossing the southern Tasman Sea. During Thursday and Friday another cold front will move across the state as the high moves over the Tasman Sea and weakens. On Saturday another high is expected to move southwest of the Bight extending a ridge across the west and northeast of the state.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPartly cloudy in central districts. Mostly clear in the remainder. West to southwesterly winds in the east, tending light and variable in the west.Wednesday 20 JuneThe chance of light showers on the western slopes of the far southern ranges or snow showers above 1600 metres. Early frost and fog inland. Mostly sunny elsewhere. North to northwesterly winds.Thursday 21 JunePatchy rain developing over the southern inland, tending to rain areas in the far south and on the western slopes of the far southern ranges. Snow above 1600 metres. Early frost inland. Partly cloudy remainder. Fresh northwest winds, gusty at times in the southeast.Friday 22 JunePartly cloudy in the far northern inland and on the north and central coasts. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges, and clearing early from the far west. Snow above 1200 metres on the southern ranges. Fresh west to northwest winds, gusty at times in the southeast.Saturday 23 JuneIsolated showers developing in southern districts west of the ranges in the afternoon, tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges and falling as snow above 1200 metres. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds, tending southwesterly on the north and central coasts.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
