MELBOURNE - Jun 18/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the north of South Australia is moving eastwards and will reach the east coast on Wednesday. A weak front will move over southern parts early on Tuesday, and a stronger front will move across the state late Wednesday and Thursday, followed by a series of fronts into the weekend. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayEarly fog patches over the agricultural area. Isolated showers over the Central, Murraylands and South East districts, contracting southwards during the day and clearing by evening. A cool day grading to mild in the west, with light winds becoming moderate northerly from the west.Wednesday 20 JuneFine at first. Areas of rain developing near southern and western coasts in the late afternoon and evening, extending to areas southwest of about Kimba to Bordertown by midnight. Fresh and gusty north to northwesterly winds, strong at times about southern coasts and ranges. A cool to mild day, grading to warm in the far west.Thursday 21 JuneAreas of rain over the agricultural area and West Coast district, turning to scattered showers from the west during the day. Isolated showers over the remainder south of about Coober Pedy to Broken Hill. Generally cool with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds ahead of a west to southwesterly change extending from the west.Friday 22 June Isolated showers contracting to the agricultural area and West Coast district by evening, but increasing to scattered about the Lower South East during the evening. Cool with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday morning until midnight Friday are expected to be 10 to 30 mm over the southern agricultural area with possible falls of around 40 mm over the Mount Lofty Ranges and southeast, 5 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area, and less than 5 mm elsewhere. Saturday until MondayIsolated showers over the agricultural area, increasing to scattered at first in the southeast, then easing to isolated light showers about southern coasts on Monday.
