MELBOURNE - Jun 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front crossing the Southern Ocean will clip southern Victoria overnight then a narrow ridge of high pressure will move eastwards across the State on Tuesday. The next front is expected to reach the southwest Wednesday night, crossing the remainder of the State on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayMorning fog patches inland. Isolated showers and drizzle patches becoming more widespread in the southwest at night. Showers falling as snow above 1600 metres. Cool and mostly cloudy with moderate west to northwest winds, freshening near the coast later ahead of a southwest change tonight.Tuesday 19 JuneIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges, contracting to the eastern ranges during the afternoon. Dry in the northwest. Snowfalls above 1400 metres. A cool and partly cloudy day with light to moderate southwesterly winds easing then tending light northerly across western districts during the afternoon.Wednesday 20 JuneIsolated showers on the ranges, contracting to the eastern ranges during the afternoon and falling as snow above 1500 metres. Fine over the remainder until scattered showers develop across the southwest later afternoon or evening ahead of an approaching front. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with moderate north to northwest winds, fresh and gusty at times in the west.Thursday 21 JuneScattered showers extending across the State with a cold front, tending isolated and contracting to southern areas behind the front. Snowfalls lowering to 1000 metres.
