MELBOURNE - Jun 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A complex low pressure system located over the Tasman Sea will move away towards New Zealand overnight and on Monday. A high pressure system over S.A will move across southern NSW during Monday and Tuesday to reach the Tasman Sea by Wednesday. A cold front will move across southern Victoria late Monday and early Tuesday, followed by another front which will approach the southwest of the Sate Wednesday night and move across Victoria on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers in the south and about the ranges and isolated showers north of the ranges but remaining dry in the far northwest. Snowfalls above 1400 metres. Mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong about the exposed parts of the coast.Monday 18 JuneMorning fog patches inland. Isolated showers in southern and mountain areas, becoming more widespread in the southwest later in the afternoon. Snowfalls above 1600 metres. Mostly cloudy with the chance of a shower north of the ranges, but remaining dry in the far northwest. Cool with moderate west to northwest winds, freshening in the southwest later.Tuesday 19 JuneIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges, contracting to the east ranges during the afternoon. Dry in the northwest. Snowfalls above 1400 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day throughout with light winds tending light to moderate northwesterly during the afternoon.Wednesday 20 JuneIsolated showers on the ranges, contracting to the east ranges during the afternoon and falling as snow above 1500 metres. Fine over the remainder until scattered showers develop across the southwest later afternoon or evening ahead of an approaching front. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with moderate north to northwest winds, fresh and gusty at times in the west.Thursday 21 JuneScattered showers extending across the State with a cold front, tending isolated and contracting to southern areas behind the front. Snowfalls lowering to 1000 metres.
