MELBOURNE - Jun 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low over the Tasman Sea is moving steadily eastwards. A high pressure system will move over the north of South Australia tonight and Monday, before reaching the east coast on Wednesday. A front will cross the far southeast of the state on Monday and a stronger front will move across the south of the state on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated light showers over the southern agricultural area. Cool with light to moderate southwest to westerly winds.Monday 18 JuneEarly fog patches. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area increasing to scattered about the Lower South East district. Showers contracting southwards in the evening. Cool with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, tending light and variable over Pastoral districts.Tuesday 19 JuneFine apart from early fog patches over agricultural areas, and isolated showers south of Adelaide, clearing in the evening. A cool day grading to mild in the west, with winds turning light to moderate northeast to northwest.Wednesday 20 JuneFine apart from patchy rain developing near southern and western coasts in the evening. Freshening northerly winds, becoming fresh to strong near the coasts. A cool to mild day, grading to warm in the far west.Thursday 21 June Patchy rain over the agricultural area and West Coast district, more widespread about southern coasts and ranges. Isolated showers over the remainder south of about Coober Pedy to Broken Hill. Generally cool with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds ahead of a west to southwesterly change from the west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday evening until midnight Thursday are expected to be 10 to 20 mm over southern coasts and ranges and the southeast with local falls of up to 30 mm, 5 to 10 mm over the remainder of the southern agricultural area, 1 to 5 mm over the northern agricultural area and West Coast district, and less than 2 mm elsewhere. Friday until SundayIsolated showers contracting to the agricultural area and West Coast district by Friday evening. Showers increasing to scattered near southern coasts at first.
