MELBOURNE - Jun 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low south of Mount Gambier is moving steadily eastwards and will be centred over the Tasman sea on Sunday. A high pressure system over Western Australia is moving eastwards and will move over the north of South Australia on Sunday and Monday, before reaching the east coast on Wednesday, ahead of a front developing over the Bight mid week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and near western coasts. Cool with moderate to fresh west to southwest winds.Sunday 17 JuneEarly fog patches over Eyre Peninsula, and the Northwest Pastoral and Flinders districts. Early frost patches in the Northeast Pastoral. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area. Cool with moderate southwest to westerly winds tending light over the Pastoral districts.Monday 18 JuneEarly fog patches over the northern agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area increasing to scattered over Kangaroo Island and near coastal parts of the South East district. Showers contracting southwards in the evening. Cool with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, tending light and variable over Pastoral districts.Tuesday 19 JuneFine apart from early fog patches over eastern districts, and isolated showers about Kangaroo Island and coastal parts of the South East district, clearing in the evening. A cool day grading to mild in the west, with winds turning light to moderate northeast to northwest.Wednesday 20 JuneFine apart from patchy rain developing near southern and western coasts in the evening. Freshening northerly winds, increasing to fresh to strong near the coasts. A cool to mild day, grading to warm in the far west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday afternoon until midnight Wednesday are expected to be 1 to 5 mm over the southern agricultural area and near western coasts, with isolated falls of 5 to 10 mm near southern coasts.Thursday until SaturdayPatchy rain over the agricultural area, West Coast district and south of the Northwest Pastoral, becoming isolated showers for Friday and Saturday. Showers increasing to scattered near southern coasts. Mild to warm in the north on Thursday, otherwise generally cool for the period.
