An upper trough and associated surface trough will move eastwards across the Queensland interior through today. The surface trough is expected to lie from the northwest to the southeast interior of the state by late today. Forecast for the rest of Saturday Isolated showers will occur about the east coast north of about Cardwell with possible isolated showers about the Wide Bay and Capricornia coasts. A cloud and rain band over the southwest will weaken and contract eastwards into the southern and southeast interior by the evening. Isolated morning frosts may occur over the Granite Belt area while some morning fogs will occur about eastern coastal districts. Fine and sunny elsewhere. A cool, dry S'ly change will extend from the north-west of the state to the south-east inland by evening and will be preceded by warm NE to NW winds over southern districts. Forecast for Sunday The upper trough and surface trough will move off the southeast coast during the morning whilst a large high will move east across northern South Australia. The weakening cloud and patchy rain band will therefore clear off the southeast coast during the morning, with any patchy rain confined to the southern border area. Dry and cooler SE to SW winds will extend through most of the state in the wake of the trough, with gusty SW winds about the south-east corner of the state during the morning. Fine and sunny weather will occur over most of the state with cooler conditions in the south. The exception will be about the east tropical coast north of Cairns where isolated showers will occur. Early fogs are possible about the east coast districts. Moderate to fresh SE trade winds will continue over the far north of the state. Forecast for Monday The high over northern South Australia will continue to extend dry and cool SW to SE winds, across nearly all of the state. Fine and sunny conditions will occur in most areas. The exception will be about the east coast north of about Cairns where isolated showers will occur in the moist, moderate to fresh SE trade flow. Widespread morning frosts will occur over the southeast and central areas of the state. Forecast for Tuesday The high will continue to move eastwards into northern New South Wales whilst a weak upper trough moves east across Queensland. Dry and cool SW to SE winds will continue to circulate across nearly all of the state. Fine and sunny conditions will occur in most areas. The exception will be about the east coast north about Cairns where isolated showers will occur in the moist moderate to fresh SE trade flow. These winds may become strong at times north of Cairns during the day. The weak upper trough may also increase instability enough in the southeast of the state to produce isolated coastal showers. Widespread morning frosts will occur over the southeast and central areas of the state. Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday The high will continue to move slowly eastwards during this period and move across the Tasman Sea on Thursday and Friday. Winds across the state will shift to the SE and continue to moisten about the east coast. As well, these winds will remain moderate to fresh along most of the east tropical coast. Showers in the far north of the state will slowly shift southwards should affect most exposed areas of the east coast by Thursday. By Friday, isolated showers may have extended a little further inland into the eastern interior as moisture extends westwards. Morning frosts will continue over most of the south-east and central areas of the state until Wednesday morning. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST Saturday.
