MELBOURNE - Jun 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the southeastern Tasman Sea extends a ridge through the Tasman Sea to the New South Wales north coast. A low pressure system west of Tasmania extends a trough to the east of Tasmania to the New South Wales south coat. A second weak trough lies to the north of the low pressure centre and is moving very slowly east. This trough preceded by rainband which will cross the state during Saturday as another high moves north of the Bight extending a ridge to the east. The high is expected to move slowly east and to be centred over southeastern Australia by Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFog and mist patches, mainly ranges, east and south. Patchy rain in the far northeast apart from the far north coast. Rain areas in the remainder, tending widespread over the central and southwestern slopes. The chance of isolated thunderstorms in the northwest of the state, mainly in the morning. Snow showers developing on the Alps. Northerly winds turning westerly in the west.Sunday 17 JuneRain areas in the east clearing early. Isolated showers on western slopes of the ranges clearing from the north. Snow showers on the southern ranges above 1200 meters. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to southwest winds.Monday 18 JuneIsolated showers on the western slopes on of the southern ranges with snow showers above 1700 metres. Early frost inland. Partly cloudy remainder. West to southwesterly winds.Tuesday 19 JuneIsolated showers on the western slopes on of the southern ranges with snow showers 1700 metres. Early frost inland. Partly cloudy remainder.
