MELBOURNE - Jun 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system south of the Bight will move slowly towards Tasmania during tonight and Saturday and gradually weaken. Another low pressure system is expected to form over the Tasman Sea during Sunday and a cold front will move from the Southern Ocean to affect southern Victoria on Monday night. The next high pressure system will move across South Australia on Monday and over northern Victoria on Tuesday. The next front will move into the Bight late on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers in the southwest, fine in the remainder. Light northwesterly winds.Saturday 16 JuneLocal early fog and frost inland. Isolated showers developing during the day, mostly in the southwest and along the ranges and becoming scattered later in the far southwest. Alpine snow showers above 1500 metres later. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate northwesterly wind, freshening over southern areas in the afternoon.Sunday 17 JuneScattered showers in the south and about the ranges and isolated showers over the remainder. Snowfalls above 1500 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh westerly wind, strong about the exposed coast.Monday 18 JuneIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas becoming scattered from the west late in the day. Snowfalls above 1600 metres. Dry in the northwest. Cool with light to moderate westerly winds turning southwest to southerly from the southwest towards evening.Tuesday 19 JuneScattered showers in the east, becoming isolated in the southwest and about the northeast ranges and generally clearing from the west.
