Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system is south of the Bight and an associated cold front will slide southeastwards across Victoria later today. The low pressure system will become slow moving to the west of Tasmania on Friday before weakening on Saturday. A new low pressure system is expected to form over the Tasman Sea during Sunday as a high pressure system crosses the Nullarbor.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers in the west extending eastwards across the State although only isolated showers in the far north and southeast. Snow showers developing over Alpine peaks above 1700 metres. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with fresh north to northwesterly winds, locally strong over the southwest and about the ranges.Friday 15 JuneScattered showers over the eastern ranges falling as snow above 1500 metres. Isolated showers over most other districts although dry over the far northwest. A cool day with moderate northwesterly winds.Saturday 16 JuneAreas of rain developing in the northeast and isolated showers developing in most other districts, scattered in the far southwest. Snowfalls above 1200 metres. Early fog patches in the northeast. A cool and mainly cloudy day with light to moderate northwesterly wind.Sunday 17 JuneScattered showers in the south and about the ranges and isolated showers over the remainder. Snowfalls above 1400 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate westerly wind, fresh along the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
