MELBOURNE - Jun 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation An intense low south of the Bight will move slowly southeastwards during the next two days. A southwesterly airstream will then develop across most of the State as the low moves through Bass Strait. A high pressure ridge is expected to develop over the north of the State early next week. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and southern parts of the pastoral districts, increasing to scattered about southern agricultural areas with possible thunderstorms about Kangaroo Island, the southern tips of Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas and the Lower South East. Possible small hail over Kangaroo Island. Cool to mild with fresh northwest to westerly winds, strong and gusty about southern coasts and ranges.Friday 15 JuneIsolated showers over the agricultural areas, scattered with possible thunderstorms about southern coasts. Cloudy with patchy rain developing over the Northeast Pastoral. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest to westerly winds.Saturday 16 JunePatchy rain clearing from the Northeast Pastoral during the day. Isolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered at times about the southern coastal areas. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds.Sunday 17 JuneIsolated showers over the agricultural areas, scattered about the southern coast during the early morning. Cool with moderate southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday until midnight Sunday are generally expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the northern agricultural area and southern parts of the pastoral districts, increasing to 5 to 15 mm about the southern agricultural area and 15 to 30 mm about the southern coasts and ranges. Local falls of 30 to 50 mm are possible about southern coasts and the Lower South East. Totals of less than 2 mm are expected elsewhere.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers about the agricultural area mostly clearing on Tuesday before redeveloping on Wednesday about the southern agricultural area and west coast.
