MELBOURNE - Jun 12/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will slowly weaken over the next few days. A weak trough is moving over southeastern waters this morning. A stronger front will move across western parts of the State this afternoon reaching central and eastern parts tonight and early Thursday. A westerly airstream will continue across most of the State through to Saturday when a cold front is expected to move across southern districts. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers about southern districts, increasing to scattered about the Lower South East, clearing during the day then redeveloping from the west during the evening. Showers tending scattered with possible thunderstorms near the West Coast and Lower Eyre Peninsula. Cool in the southeast grading to mild to warm in the north and west. Moderate northeast to northwest winds freshening during the day and becoming strong and gusty near southern and western coasts later. Winds possibly reaching gale force about the southern coasts and ranges during the afternoon and evening.Thursday 14 JuneIsolated showers over the agricultural area and southern parts of the pastoral districts, increasing to scattered about southern agricultural areas with possible thunderstorms about Kangaroo Island, the southern tips of Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas and the Lower South East. Cool to mild with fresh northwest to westerly winds, strong and gusty in the south, possibly reaching gale force about southern coasts and ranges during the early morning.Friday 15 JuneIsolated showers over the agricultural areas, scattered with possible thunderstorms about southern coasts. Cloudy with patchy rain developing over the Northeast Pastoral. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest to westerly winds.Saturday 16 JunePatchy rain clearing from the Northeast Pastoral during the day. Isolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered at times about the southern agricultural area. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday until midnight Saturday are generally expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the northern agricultural area and southern parts of the pastoral districts, increasing to 5 to 15 mm about the southern agricultural area and 15 to 30 mm about the southern coasts and ranges. Local falls of 30 to 50 mm are possible about southern coasts and the Lower South East. Totals of less than 2 mm are expected elsewhere.Sunday until TuesdayIsolated showers over the agricultural areas, scattered on Sunday about the southern coasts and ranges, all easing to possible coastal showers on Tuesday.
