MELBOURNE - Jun 12/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system over the south Tasman Sea extends to ridge to eastern Victoria. The system is moving southeastwards. A weakening cold front will approach southwestern Victoria from the west tonight then slip away to the south. A low pressure system is expected to form south of the Bight during Wednesday then will move only slowly eastwards, eventually crossing Tasmania on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers in the far east and developing over the far southwest tonight. Light to moderate northeast to northerly wind.Wednesday 13 JuneLocal early frost and fog in the east. Isolated showers in the southwest, scattered over the far southwest. A cool and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northerly wind.Thursday 14 JuneScattered showers affecting most districts, falling as snow above 1700 metres. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with fresh north to northwesterly winds, locally strong over the southwest and about the ranges.Friday 15 JuneScattered showers over the eastern ranges falling as snow above 1400 metres. Isolated showers over most other districts although dry over the far northwest and far southeast. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds.Saturday 16 JuneIsolated showers, scattered over the far southwest. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres.
