Point and Point Danger for Wednesday.

Weather Situation
An upper level low currently over southern Queensland is forecast to move
offshore this evening. A large, slow-moving high over the Southern Ocean will
extend a ridge into northern and western Queensland, whilst a deepening low will
move north along the New South Wales coast today and into the southern Coral Sea
on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Isolated showers about the southeast inland border area with possible sleet
this evening about the Granite Belt. Mostly cloudy elsewhere over the southern
interior with very isolated showers. Isolated light showers about the east coast
north of about Cooktown. Fine elsewhere. Cool to cold conditions across most of
the state. Moderate to fresh W to SW winds over southern districts, tending
strong and gusty over the escarpment and off the southern coast. Moderate SW to
SE winds elsewhere, fresh at times.
Forecast for Wednesday
A strong S'ly wind change will extend northwards into southern Queensland
waters, with isolated showers developing about the exposed coast. A large and
powerful S'ly swell will also extend northwards towards Fraser Island and
generate rough surf conditions. Mostly cloudy conditions will continue through
the southern interior and extend a little further north into the central
interior with some drizzle areas. Isolated light showers will continue about the
east coast north of about Cooktown. Fine and mostly sunny conditions elsewhere.
Temperatures will remain cool to cold over much of the state with possible early
frost through the northwest and over the central, southern and southeastern
interior. Moderate SW to SE winds most parts, tending fresh to strong about the
southeast coast.
Forecast for Thursday
The trough will track further northeastwards into the Coral Sea while the
large high will remain slow moving southwest of Victoria. Strong S'ly winds will
therefore most likely spread northwards to about St Lawrence. Large southerly
swells will persist about the exposed coast south of Sandy Cape, decreasing
late in the day. Isolated showers will continue about the exposed southern coast
and will also develop about the central coast. Early frosts are expected through
the central, southern and southeastern interior under relatively clear skies and
light winds, and will also possibly develop on the Atherton Tablelands. Isolated
showers to continue about the east coast north of about Cooktown. Cloud should
become more patchy through the interior under the influence of the firm ridge
with only isolated drizzle patches expected in the morning. Fine conditions will
continue elsewhere.
Forecast for Friday
The trough over the Coral Sea is likely to move further northeast and weaken
while the high near Victoria will remain slow moving. Scattered showers will
occur along the southern exposed coast, while isolated showers will develop
along much of the remaining east coast as winds tend more moist onshore. Fine
and mostly sunny conditions elsewhere with early frosts about the northwest and
central, southern and southeast interior. The large swells over southern waters
should continue to decrease.
Forecast for Saturday
The high near Victoria will remain slow moving while a weak upper trough is
forecast to develop over western Queensland. Scattered showers about the
southeast coast, tending isolated about the southeast inland and remaining east
coast. Fine elsewhere with possible early frosts about the southern and
southeast interior.
Outlook for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
The high will most likely continue to move eastwards across far southeastern
Australia and into the Tasman Sea early next week. The high should maintain a
firm ridge and moderate to fresh SE winds along the east coast, with isolated to
scattered showers continuing in the onshore wind flow. The upper trough is
expected to amplify further into early next week. Showers are therefore likely
to become enhanced over southeast Queensland with possible isolated
thunderstorms about the southern border ranges. The remainder of the state
should be fine and mostly sunny with early frosts still possible about the
southern and southeast interior.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Wednesday.
