Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 5/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system off the southern New South Wales coast is expected to move away northeastwards over the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. A large high pressure system south of Western Australia will cross waters well south of the Bight during Wednesday and Thursday maintaining a southerly airflow across Victoria. The high will approach western Victoria on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayWidespread rain in Gippsland and on the northeast highlands with heavy falls on the ranges and in the east, easing somewhat this afternoon. Scattered showers over central areas becoming isolated. Isolated showers over the remainder, contracting to the coast by tonight. Snowfalls above 1300 metres. Cool to cold with fresh to strong south to southeasterly winds, gale force this morning on the eastern highlands and about the Gippsland coast then slowly moderating this afternoon.Wednesday 6 JuneEarly frost patches inland. Isolated showers over southern and mountain districts, mostly near the coast. Showers more widespread over East Gippsland during the morning. Fine over the north. Cool with moderate southerly winds.Thursday 7 JuneLocal morning fog and frost inland then fine over the north. Isolated showers over southern and mountain districts, mostly near the coast. Cool with moderate southerly winds.Friday 8 JuneLocal morning fog and frost inland then fine over the north. Isolated showers over southern and mountain districts, mostly near the coast.
