MELBOURNE - Jun 4/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over eastern New South Wales extends southwards with a low pressure system expected to form just east of Victoria during today. The low is expected to move away to the northeast on Tuesday. A large high pressure system south of Western Australia will cross waters well south of the Bight during Wednesday and Thursday maintaining a southerly airflow across Victoria. Forecast for the rest of MondayEarly frosts over the north. Morning fog patches. Rain areas over Gippsland and south central Victoria with some heavy falls developing. Scattered showers over most remaining districts. Possible snowfalls on the Alpine peaks. Cool with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, strong at times near the coast and reaching gale force about the southeast and Alps this evening.Tuesday 5 JuneRain areas over the southeast with some heavy falls easing to showers. Isolated showers over remaining districts but clearing north of the dividing range by midday. Snowfalls above 1300 metres. Cool to cold with fresh to strong south to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 6 JuneIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, mostly near the coast. Fine over the north. Cool with moderate southerly winds.Thursday 7 JuneLocal morning fog and frost inland then fine over the north. Isolated showers over southern and mountain districts, mostly near the coast.
