MELBOURNE - Jun 4/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system off the southern NSW coast will move southwards to sit near the Victorian/New South Wales border during Monday, intensifying rapidly. This system will move northwards on Tuesday, bringing rain or showers and cooler conditions to much of the state. Rain may be locally heavy along the coast, and fall as snow or sleet in elevated areas. This system is also expected to bring windy conditions to the state, with winds reaching strong to gale and generating large waves along the southern half of the coast. From Wednesday conditions will gradually subside as a high pressure system develops over the Bight. Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers on ranges and west slopes, becoming isolated later. Showers clearing over most of the remainder of the state, although in the far south rain redeveloping during the evening. Locally heavy falls possible on the South Coast, and on eastern slopes of the far southern ranges during the evening, and rain tending to snow above about 1700 metres later in the evening. Mainly westerly winds, although tending southerly in the far south during the afternoon and increasing overnight, becoming strong to gale force on the coastal fringe in the far south.Tuesday 5 JuneVery windy along the southern half of the coast and on the ranges. Rain extending northwards along the coast and ranges to reach the Central Tablelands and Hunter districts by evening. Locally heavy falls are possible closer to the coast and the rain will fall as snow in areas above about 1200 metres. Showers west of the Divide, although tending more isolated on the Plains and westward. Southerly winds extending northwards through much of the state, strong to possibly gale force along the coast and ranges.Wednesday 6 JuneScattered showers in the east, most widespread along central parts of the coast and becoming more isolated on the western slopes and ranges during the day. Fine remainder. Southerly winds, strong and gusty along the coast.Thursday 7 JuneIsolated showers on the coast and ranges, more likely along the coastal fringe north of about Sydney.
