Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 1/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system over the southwestern Tasman Sea is moving east and an associated ridge across New South Wales is weakening. A low pressure trough will extend over the western parts of the state on Saturday, before moving eastwards and deepening during Sunday as an upper trough approaches from the west. The trough will move offshore on Monday and an intense low pressure system is expected to develop off the southern half of the coast. This pattern will see widespread rain developing over NSW over the next few days, with very windy conditions and potentially heavy falls on Monday and Tuesday over southern coastal districts.
Forecast for the rest of Friday
Cloudy, but fine in the south. Patchy rain or scattered showers elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.
Dangerous surf conditions, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, surfing and rock fishing, are expected between Port Stephens and Yamba.
Saturday 2 JuneRain areas in the north. Cloudy, but fine in the south. Northeast to southeast winds.Sunday 3 JuneCloudy with rain areas over most of the state. Possible afternoon thunderstorms on the far northern inland. Southeast to northeast winds, increasing along the coast.Monday 4 JuneRain areas over most of the state, with heavy falls possible along Illawarra and South Coasts. Westerly winds in the northeast. South to southeast winds over the remainder, strengthening along southern parts of the coast.Tuesday 5 June
Rain areas over most of the state, although clearing from the south. Heavy falls possible along central parts of the coast. Westerly winds in the far northeast. South to southeast winds over the remainder, strong to gale force along southern and central parts of the coast.
