MELBOURNE - May 31/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system straddles Victoria and will move slowly eastwards, reaching the Tasman Sea tonight. A cold front will approach Tasmania on Friday but slide away to the south having little affect on Victoria. A large high pressure system will form well south of Western Australia during the weekend and extend a ridge across Tasmania, while a low pressure system is likely to develop over New South Wales. This low will deepen off the New South Wales coast on Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine. Light winds.Friday 1 JuneEarly morning frost in the north and morning fog patches. A fine, cool to mild day to follow with increasing high cloud. Generally light winds.Saturday 2 JuneEarly frost patches inland. Isolated showers developing in the southwest and extending to central districts at night. Fine in the north. A cool and partly cloudy day with light winds turning moderate southeast to southerly from the west.Sunday 3 JuneScattered showers in the east, tending to rain at night. Isolated showers in the remainder. Snowfalls above 1600 metres. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.Monday 4 JuneRain areas in the east and along the Murray River. Isolated showers in the remainder. Snowfalls above 1500 metres.
