Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 31/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred over the Tasman Sea will weaken over the weekend, as a weak trough of low pressure passes to the south of the State. Another, strong, slow moving high will develop to the southwest of the Bight over the weekend and early next week.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy rain extending from the north to reach areas northeast of Coober Pedy to Whyalla to Renmark by midnight, increasing to areas of rain north of about Hawker. Isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast. Cool with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds.Friday 1 JuneAreas of rain extending southwards into the Flinders, Mid North, Yorke Peninsula and parts of the Central and Eastern Eyre Peninsula, with patchy rain developing further south and west, but remaining fine over the South East district and west of Ceduna. Cool with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.Saturday 2 JunePatchy rain contracting eastwards during the day, but isolated showers persisting over the remainder of the State. Cool with mainly moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Sunday 3 JunePatchy rain near the eastern border parts of the Northeast Pastoral, Murraylands and Riverland districts. Isolated showers over the remainder. Cool with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Monday 4 JuneIsolated showers over the agricultural area, West Coast and south of the Northeast Pastoral south of about Leigh Creek, contracting to southern and western coasts during the afternoon. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon until midnight Monday are expected to be 5-20 mm, decreasing to 1 to 5 mm west of about Ceduna to Coober Pedy and also in the South East district. Isolated higher falls of 20-40 mm are possible over the Northeast Pastoral district.Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers near southern and western coasts, contracting to far southern coasts on Thursday. Cold mornings inland with patchy frost. Cool days with chiefly light to moderate southeast to northeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Friday.Product IDS10033
