MELBOURNE - May 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system straddles Victoria and will move slowly eastwards, reaching the Tasman Sea Thursday night. Cold fronts will approach Tasmania on Friday but slide away to the south having little affect on Victoria. A large high pressure system will form well south of Western Australia during the weekend and extend a ridge across Tasmania, while a low pressure system is likely to develop over New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayEarly frosts inland and morning fog patches, otherwise fine. A cool to mild and mainly sunny afternoon but morning cloud areas in the south. Light winds tending northerly in southern areas.Friday 1 JuneEarly morning frost in the north and morning fog patches. A fine, cool to mild day to follow with increasing high cloud. Generally light winds.Saturday 2 JuneIsolated showers developing in the southwest and extending to central districts at night. Fine in the north. A cool and partly cloudy day with light winds turning moderate southeast to southerly from the west.Sunday 3 JuneScattered showers in the east, isolated in the remainder.
