Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system centred near Mt Gambier extends a ridge across Victoria. The high will move slowly eastwards over Victoria tonight and during Thursday, reaching the Tasman Sea Thursday night. The next cold front will approach the far southwest of the State Friday evening before moving through southern Victoria on Saturday. A high pressure ridge will extend from the southern ocean across Tasmania on Sunday, while a low is likely to develop over New South Wales.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayDrizzle patches in the south, clearing during the evening. Clear in the north. Cool to mild with light and variable winds.Thursday 31 MayEarly frost inland and widespread morning fog patches. A fine, cool to mild and mainly sunny day to follow with winds tending light northeasterly.Friday 1 JuneEarly morning frost in the north and morning fog patches. A fine, cool to mild and mainly sunny day to follow. Light to moderate northeast to northwest winds, freshening in the far southwest later.Saturday 2 JuneScattered showers in the southwest extending to central districts at night. Fine in the north. Mild in the east at first but a cooler south to southwesterly wind extending from the west.Sunday 3 JuneScattered showers in the east, isolated in the remainder.
