Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 29/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high over the Great Australian Bight extends a ridge across Victoria and southern New South Wales and a southeast airstream over the northern NSW coast. The high will move only slowly eastward entering the southwest Tasman on Thursday then gradually weakening. On Friday a trough is expected to form over far southwest Queensland then deepen over NSW over the weekend as it moves slowly to the east. Some widespread rain is expected with this system, more likely in northern and central parts of the state, and likely contracting east Sunday/Monday. A low pressure system may form off the NSW coast towards the end of the weekend or on Monday but at this stage the timing and position of this system is very uncertain.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers along the north coast. Isolated showers over eastern parts of the northern ranges and possibly about the western slopes during the afternoon, and isolated showers about the central coast clearing. Mostly sunny remainder. Morning fog patches and frost areas, over the ranges and east. Southeast winds, fresh along the far north coast.Thursday 31 MayIsolated showers along the north coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers developing in the northwest. Partly cloudy otherwise. Morning fog patches and frost areas, particularly in the southeast. East to southeast winds. Dangerous surf conditions, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, surfing and rock fishing, are expected between Norah Head and Yamba.Friday 1 JuneScattered showers on the north coast and developing in the far west. Possible isolated showers over remaining northern districts. Mostly cloudy elsewhere. Morning fog patches. Early frost patches in the southeast. Southeast to northeast winds.Saturday 2 JuneScattered showers or rain areas developing over the north. Isolated showers in the south, less likely towards the Victorian border. Northeast to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
