Carpentaria waters for Tuesday morning.

Point Danger including Hervey Bay.

Weather Situation
A high [1035 hPa] over the eastern Great Australian Bight is moving slowly
eastwards and will enter the Tasman Sea on Thursday. An upper trough lies over
southern Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
The large high will maintain the onshore flow along the east coast. Isolated
showers will occur in most east coast districts and will spill over into the
adjacent inland in the afternoon. Showers will likely be more scattered along
the southern coast and Fraser Island due to instability associated with the
upper trough. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will affect the far north of
Cape York Peninsula and Torres Strait. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will
continue across the remainder of the state. A cool morning over most of the
interior of the state with possible frost over central and southeast interior.
Moderate to fresh SE winds across the state, strong at times about the east
coast.
Forecast for Wednesday
The high will move further eastwards across southeastern Australia and will
continue to direct fresh to strong SE winds along most of the east coast. The
upper trough will move west into central Australia and intensify, increasing
instability through western Queensland. Showers and afternoon thunderstorms are
expected through the northwest of the state, increasing to thundery rain in the
evening as the upper trough approaches. Cloud will increase through remaining
parts of western Queensland with isolated afternoon showers expected. Isolated
to scattered showers will occur along the east coast in the onshore wind flow,
increasing to possible rain areas through the southern tropical coast. Again
isolated afternoon showers will occur over the adjacent eastern interior.
Isolated thunderstorms will occur over Cape York Peninsula and Torres Strait.
Moderate to fresh E to SE winds over much of the state.
Forecast for Thursday
The high will move eastwards into the Tasman Sea. Strong SE'ly winds will
continue north of Cardwell, while elsewhere along the east coast winds will ease
to moderate to fresh. The upper trough will move closer to the western
Queensland border and as a result cool and cloudy conditions with rain will
spread throughout much of western and northern Queensland. Scattered showers
will continue along the east coast with isolated showers extending into the
southeast interior.
Forecast for Friday
The high will continue to move eastwards across the Tasman Sea and lose its
intensity. However, a weak low level trough will move into the northwest Coral
Sea and should maintain strong winds along the east coast north of Cairns. The
upper trough will move only a little further eastwards and as a result the main
area of rain will move into the southern interior and the southeast. Elsewhere
across the state, showers should continue occur with isolated thunderstorms
likely.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday
Some uncertainty remains about the movement of the upper trough during the
outlook period but it is expected to move slowly across southern Queensland.
Showers and isolated thunderstorms should affect most of the state on Saturday,
with more persistent rain over eastern areas. The showers, rain areas and
thunderstorms should generally contract to the south and southeast of the state
on Sunday and Monday but there is considerable uncertainty in the forecast by
this stage.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Tuesday.
