Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure is moving along the central and northern coasts, while a high pressure system south of the Bight extends a ridge across southern New South Wales. This ridge will maintain fine and stable conditions over most districts, with any showers restricted to parts of the coast in an onshore airstream. The synoptic pattern is expected to be very slow-moving during the next few days as the ridge dominates, with fine weather continuing in all but the northeastern districts. A cold front is forecast to affect the state late next week, with most areas likely to receive some rain.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers along the central and northern coasts and adjacent slopes, extending to north of Hunter during the day tomorrow. Fine and partly cloudy across the remainder of the State. Light winds inland, tending moderate southerly along much of the coast.Monday 21 MayEarly frosts about the tablelands. Areas of morning fog, mainly over the tablelands and southern half of the western districts. Isolated showers near the coast and adjacent ranges north of about Sydney, gradually contracting northwards. Otherwise fine. Generally light winds.Tuesday 22 MayEarly frosts about the tablelands, and morning fog patches in the southeast. Isolated showers in the northeast, most likely on the far northern coast and adjacent ranges. Otherwise fine. Light and variable winds, turning north to northwesterly.Wednesday 23 MayIsolated showers in the northeast, most likely on the northern coast and adjacent ranges. Otherwise fine, with cloud increasing in the far southwest. Light to moderate north to northwest winds.Thursday 24 MayIsolated showers developing in the far north and northeast districts. Chance of some late showers developing in the far southwest. Dry the remainder of the State after morning fog areas.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Monday.Product IDN10031
