MELBOURNE - May 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred just off southern parts of the New South Wales is weakening and moving further east. This high is expected to maintain fine and stable conditions in most areas today, although far northern parts of the coast may see a shower or two in an onshore airstream. A weak trough appears likely to affect southern districts late Friday and early Saturday, with a southerly change moving through the southeast of the state later on Saturday. Another high pressure system is expected to extend a ridge over western New South Wales later on Saturday and Sunday in the wake of the trough, with the high pressure system moving through the state on Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayWidespread frosts about the tablelands and adjacent slopes. Morning fog patches, chiefly in the east. The chance of showers about the far northern coast, most likely along the coastal fringe. Otherwise fine and mostly sunny. Light winds, tending moderate to fresh and gusty westerly during the afternoon on the southern ranges.Saturday 19 MayEarly frosts about the tablelands, and morning fog patches in the east. The chance of showers about the far northern coast. Otherwise fine and partly cloudy. Light and variable winds, tending southerly across the south during the day.Sunday 20 MayEarly frosts about the tablelands, and morning fog patches in the east. The chance of showers about the central and northern coasts. Otherwise fine. Generally light southerly winds.Monday 21 MayEarly frosts about the tablelands, and morning fog patches in the east. Isolated showers in the northeast. Otherwise fine, although cloudy over the northern inland.
