MELBOURNE - May 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located over eastern New South Wales while a cold front is approaching the Bight. The front will reach southwestern Victoria Friday afternoon and then move across remaining southern areas overnight Friday and early on Saturday. A new high pressure system will develop over the Bight later Saturday and then ridge across northern Victoria during Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine and clear over most of the state apart from increasing cloud in the southwest with isolated showers about the far southwest. Light to moderate north to northwest winds and coastal sea breezes on the Gippsland coast.Friday 18 MayEarly morning fog patches in the east. Fine and cool to mild over most of the State with increasing cloud. Isolated showers in the southwest, extending to central areas during the afternoon. Moderate to fresh north to northwest wind.Saturday 19 MayAreas of morning fog in the north. Isolated showers in southern and mountain areas, contacting to the coast during the day. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day. Light to moderate west to southwest winds, fresh and gusty at first about the Gippsland coast.Sunday 20 MayWidespread morning fog over the inland and areas of frost in the northeast. Then a fine, cool to mild and mainly sunny afternoon apart from isolated showers in the south, mainly about the southwest coast. Light to moderate west to southwest winds tending northwest in the west.Monday 21 MayAreas of morning fog inland and in the east and early morning frost in the northeast. Then a fine, cool to mild and mainly sunny day apart from isolated showers about the far southwest.
