MELBOURNE - May 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred over Victoria will move slowly eastward over the next couple of days. A trough will move over western parts of the State today, then slide away to the southeast. A cold front will move across the south of the State late Friday and early Saturday, then another high will become established over the Bight by late Saturday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdaySome patchy light rain about the western coast extending to southwest of about Port Augusta to Bordertown by the end of the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms about western and southern coasts. Cold at first with isolated frost about central and eastern parts then generally mild with mainly light to moderate northerly winds ahead of a cooler southerly change moving over the west during the day.Friday 18 May Isolated showers near western coasts and about the southern agricultural area, but showers scattered near southern coasts during the morning. Possible isolated thunderstorms near western and southern coasts. Generally mild with light to moderate northerly winds, shifting cooler southwest to southerly from the west later. Saturday 19 May Scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms about southern coastal districts easing early afternoon. Isolated showers over the remainder of the southern agricultural area and the West Coast. Patchy rain over the northwest of the Northwest Pastoral district. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds easing. Sunday 20 May Isolated showers about the southern agricultural area and the west coast of Eyre Peninsula. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday morning until midnight Sunday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the southern agricultural area and near western coasts, and possible local falls of 5 to 10 mm near western and southern coasts. Less than 2 mm is expected elsewhere. Monday until Wednesday Isolated showers near southern coasts clearing Wednesday morning. Isolated showers extending across the west during Wednesday. Generally mild with light to moderate southeast to northeast winds turning moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly later.
