MELBOURNE - May 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will move slowly northeastwards across Victoria to be located over eastern New South Wales on Thursday as then next cold front approaches the Bight. The front will reach southwest Victoria Friday night but will weaken as it moves across central Bass Strait early Saturday. A new high pressure system will develop over the Bight later Saturday and extend a ridge across inland Victoria on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayCloudy periods in the south with isolated light showers clearing from southern Gippsland by this evening. Clear over the remainder. with light and variable winds.Thursday 17 MayMorning fogs, mostly over the north and east and local early frost in the northeast. A fine, cool to mild and mainly sunny day although cloud increasing later in the southwest with a shower or two developing in the evening. Light to moderate north to northwest winds.Friday 18 MayEarly morning fog patches in the east. Fine and cool to mild over most of the State with increasing cloud. Isolated showers developing from the southwest and possibly reaching central areas at night. Moderate to fresh north to northwest wind.Saturday 19 MayAreas of morning fog in the north. Isolated showers in southern and mountain areas. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day. Light to moderate northwest wind becoming variable later.Sunday 20 MayWidespread morning fog over the inland and areas of frost in the northeast. Then a fine, cool to mild and mainly sunny afternoon apart from isolated showers in the south, mainly about the southwest.
