MELBOURNE - May 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high south of Kangaroo Island will move slowly eastwards over the next few days. A trough will move over western parts of the State on Thursday, then throughout by early Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers about far southern coasts clearing by early evening. Mild to warm in the west, cool to mild elsewhere with light to moderate southeast to northeast, tending fresh northwesterly at times in the west.Wednesday 16 MayAreas of morning frost. Cloud increasing with some patchy light rain and possible thunder developing in the far west, with the patchy rain extending to coastal areas west of about Ceduna, Port Lincoln and Kingscote during the evening. Fine otherwise. Cool to mild with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, becoming warmer in the west with freshening northerly winds ahead of a southwesterly wind change during the afternoon.Thursday 17 MaySome patchy light rain extending to southwest of about Port Augusta to Bordertown by the end of the day. Possible thunderstorms about the western coast. Generally mild with mainly light to moderate northerly winds ahead of a cooler southerly change moving over the west during the day.Friday 18 MayIsolated showers extending over southern agricultural areas and the Eyre Peninsula, possibly extending to northern Eyre Peninsula and the West Coast district, increasing to scattered showers about southern coasts in the evening. Possible thunderstorms early morning and in the evening. Generally mild with light to moderate northerly winds, shifting cooler southwest to southerly from the west later.Saturday 19 May Scattered showers and possible thunderstorms about southern coasts easing early afternoon. Isolated showers over the remainder of the southern agricultural area and the West Coast easing. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds, easing. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday afternoon until midnight Saturday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the southern agricultural area with isolated local falls of 5 to 10 mm about the coastal parts of the West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula and Kangaroo Island forecast districts. Less than 2 mm elsewhere. Sunday until TuesdayIsolated showers clearing from southern coasts Sunday morning, then returning late in the period. Mostly clear in the north.
