MELBOURNE - May 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A deep low pressure system over the south Tasman Sea continues to move away to the southeast. A high pressure system south of the Bight will move slowly eastwards during Monday and Tuesday to be over southwest Victoria by Tuesday night and then drift northeastwards across Victoria on Wednesday. The high will settle over the Tasman Sea on Thursday as the next front approaches the Bight. Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts with local hail possible across Gippsland and snow on the ranges above 1200 metres. Isolated showers clearing over most northern areas. Cold with fresh south to southwesterly winds, strong about the coast.Monday 14 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, becoming more isolated later in the day. Snow showers on the ranges above 1300 metres, rising to 1600 metres in the afternoon. A partly cloudy day over the northern inland area with just one or two showers extending across the ranges to southern parts. Remaining cool to cold with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Tuesday 15 MayLocal morning fog and frost inland. Isolated showers in southern and mountain areas, scattered over parts of the Gippsland and central coasts. Snow showers above 1600 metres at first. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Wednesday 16 MayCold at first with early morning frost and widespread fog inland. Areas of drizzle about the central and Gippsland coasts, clearing during the morning. A cool to mild, fine and mainly sunny afternoon throughout. Light and variable winds.Thursday 17 MayEarly morning frost in the north and morning fog patches over much of the State. Then a fine, mild and mainly sunny afternoon apart from isolated showers developing in the southwest.
