MELBOURNE - May 12/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over the Bight and a deep low to the southeast of Tasmania direct cool and gusty south to southwest winds over southeastern Australia. A front associated with this low will move over the ACT and southeastern NSW on Sunday, bringing showers to these areas, which are expected to fall as snow in areas above 1300 m. The front will also produce gusty winds over most of the state, strongest over the ranges and southern coastal districts. As the front moves out of the state late Sunday, showers will clear over most areas and the wind will gradually ease. The high will slowly move eastward to be situated over NSW by Wednesday. This will produce fine days, cold overnight temperatures and frosty mornings for much of the week. Forecast for the rest of SundayLocal frost and fog patches about the ranges, chiefly in the north. Showers developing in the southeast, most widespread on western slopes of the southern ranges and falling as snow above 1300 metres. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southwesterly winds, fresh and gusty across much of the state, strongest over the ranges and southeast.Monday 14 MayA cold morning, with frost on the slopes and ranges. Fine apart from the chance of showers about the Alpine areas. Partly cloudy throughout. Southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh and gusty along the southern and central coasts.Tuesday 15 MayA cold morning with early frost patches. The chance of showers on the far south coast and ranges close to the Victorian border, and in the Port Stephens area. Fine over the remainder. Southeast to southwest winds.Wednesday 16 MayEarly frosts. The chance of showers in coastal areas from the Hunter northwards, otherwise fine.
