MELBOURNE - May 11/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weakening high pressure ridge extends from northern New South Wales to the Tasman Sea, while a trough and associated cold front move over southern and central parts of the state. The front will bring cooler conditions as it extends to the northeast on Saturday. Behind this front another high will gradually approach from the west, maintaining a cool southerly airstream across the region during Sunday and Monday, assisted by further fronts brushing the state's southeast. These fronts will come amidst a relatively dry airmass, with any shower activity restricted to southeastern districts and parts of the coastal fringe during the coming week. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine and mostly sunny. Northwest to southwest winds, tending northeast along the northern coast.Saturday 12 MayFine and mostly sunny throughout. Southeast to southwest winds extending throughout, fresh and gusty in the southeast.Sunday 13 MayLocal frost and fog patches about the ranges, chiefly in the north. Isolated showers developing in the southeast, mainly about western slopes of the southern ranges. The chance of snow showers on the higher Alps. Fine elsewhere and mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southwesterly winds, fresh and gusty across the south.Monday 14 MayFine apart from the chance of showers about the Alpine areas of the southern tablelands. Partly cloudy throughout. Frost patches on the slopes and ranges. Southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh and gusty along the southern and central coasts.Tuesday 15 MayEarly frost, mainly on the tablelands. The chance of showers in the far southeast, and about the central coast fringe, otherwise fine.
