MELBOURNE - May 9/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak cold front will slip southeastwards across Bass Strait Wednesday night. A stronger cold front will cross the Bight to reach southwest Victoria early Friday morning before extending rapidly east over the State by Friday afternoon. An associated low will deepen south of Tasmania resulting in a colder vigorous west to southwesterly airstream over Victoria during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPartly cloudy with isolated showers, contracting to the northeast and the southwest. The risk of thunderstorms at first in the southwest and about the central coast. Cool to mild with light to moderate northwesterly winds, fresh about the coast.Thursday 10 MayMorning fog patches in the north. Isolated showers possible over the far southwest and near the central and South Gippsland coast. A cool to mild day, mostly sunny inland but with some cloud lingering in the south. Light to moderate northwest to westerly winds.Friday 11 MayScattered showers developing in the south and isolated showers developing in most other areas. A cool to cold and fresh west to southwesterly change extending from the west in the early morning and reaching the east by the afternoon.Saturday 12 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts with isolated hail. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Snow showers above 1200 metres. Cool to cold with fresh west to southwesterly winds.Sunday 13 MayScattered to widespread showers over southern and mountain districts with isolated hail. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Snow showers above 1200 metres.
