MELBOURNE - May 9/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located over eastern NSW while a cold front over southwestern Victoria will slide away to the south this morning. Another front will follow a similar path early Thursday then a stronger cold front will cross the State on Friday with an associated low pressure system expected near southern Tasmania by Friday night. The low will move slowly eastwards on Saturday as the next high pressure system moves over the Bight. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPartly cloudy with isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms developing over most districts. Mild to warm with mainly moderate northwest to westerly winds, strong at first about the ranges.Thursday 10 MayMorning fog patches inland. Isolated showers along the coast and over the far southwest. A mild and partly cloudy day with generally light westerly winds.Friday 11 MayIsolated showers possible over northern districts and the far east. Scattered showers extending to remaining areas as moderate to fresh northwest winds shift colder southwesterly. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres Friday night.Saturday 12 MayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, widespread near the coast with isolated hail and thunder. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Snow showers above 1400 metres decreasing to 900 metres by Saturday night.
