MELBOURNE - May 8/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located over eastern NSW and extends a ridge southwards to another high over the Southern Ocean. A cold front will move across the Bight to approach western Victoria Tuesday night, but will then weaken and slide southeastwards on Wednesday. Another front will follow a similar path on Thursday. A stronger cold front will then cross the State on Friday with an associated low pressure system expected near southern Tasmania by Friday night. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayLocal early morning fog about the northeast. Isolated showers clearing from the far northeast and about the Gippsland coast early morning then a fine, mild to warm and mostly sunny day. Isolated showers developing in the west at night. Moderate north to northwest winds fresh and gusty at times in the south.Wednesday 9 MayBecoming cloudy with isolated showers developing over most districts. Possible thunderstorms near the southwest coast. Mild to warm with mainly moderate northwest to westerly winds.Thursday 10 MayIsolated showers contracting to the south and east during the early morning, then clearing. A mild and partly cloudy day with generally light westerly winds.Friday 11 MayIsolated showers developing over northern districts and the far east. Scattered showers extending to remaining areas as moderate to fresh northwest winds shift colder southwesterly.
