MELBOURNE - May 7/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front passing to the southwest of Tasmania extends a weak trough northwards. The trough will cross southwest Victoria tonight before sliding southeastwards early Tuesday. The next cold front will approach western Victoria Tuesday night and will weaken and slide southeastwards on Wednesday. Another front will follow a similar path on Thursday. A stronger cold front will then cross the State on Friday with an associated low pressure system expected near southern Tasmania Friday night. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers clearing eastwards tonight. Moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds.Tuesday 8 MayLocal early morning fog and light frosts about the northeast, otherwise a fine, mild to warm and mostly sunny day with northerly wind freshening in the west and south. Isolated showers possible in the west at night.Wednesday 9 MayPartly cloudy with isolated showers developing over most districts. Possible thunderstorms near the southwest coast. Mild to warm with mainly moderate northwest to westerly winds.Thursday 10 MayIsolated showers contracting to the south and east during the early morning, then clearing. A mild and partly cloudy day with generally light westerly winds.Friday 11 MayIsolated showers developing over northern districts and the far east. Scattered showers extending to remaining areas as moderate to fresh northwest winds shift colder southwesterly.
