MELBOURNE - May 6/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system east of Tasmania will continue moving southwards over the southern Tasman Sea on Monday. A high pressure system will cross northern New South Wales on Monday to lie near Brisbane on Tuesday. A weak low pressure trough will cross southwestern Victoria late on Monday. Weak cold fronts will cross Bass Strait and southern Victoria on Wednesday and Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers near the coast and the chance of showers in the far northwest, otherwise dry and mainly cloudy. Generally light winds.Monday 7 MayLocal morning fog and frost, mainly over the northeast. Isolated showers in the west, extending eastwards during the day then clearing at night. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds, freshening in the southwestern and central districts.Tuesday 8 MayA fine, mild to warm and mostly sunny day with northerly wind freshening in the west and south. Isolated showers possible in the southwest during the evening.Wednesday 9 MayPartly cloudy with isolated showers developing, mostly in the southwest and about the ranges. Mild to warm with mainly moderate northwest to westerly wind.Thursday 10 MayIsolated showers contracting to the southwest by the afternoon.
