Warning Summary at issue time
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A high [1022 hpa] over southeast Australia is moving slowly northeast and
extends a ridge across most of Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday
Mostly fine, only isolated showers and storms over far northern Cape York
Peninsula and through Torres Strait. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, though
some high cloud over the southwest. A cool to cold morning in the west and
south, with early frosts in the eastern Warrego, Maranoa, Darling Downs and
Granite Belt districts. Light to moderate SW to SE winds, fresh at times along
the east tropical coast. Powerful surf along the coast south of Cape Moreton.
Forecast for Monday
The high will move northeast over New South Wales and maintain mostly sunny
conditions across nearly all of Queensland. Again the exception will be though
Torres strait and over far northern Cape York Peninsula where isolate showers
and storms will occur. Isolated early morning frosts in the southeast interior.
Some high cloud will move across most far southern districts.
Forecast for Tuesday
The high will move into far northeast New South Wales and maintain fine and
mostly sunny conditions in most areas. Again the exception will be through
Torres strait and over far northern Cape York Peninsula where isolated showers
and storms will occur. Isolated early morning frosts in the southeast interior.
Early morning fogs about the east coast.
Forecast for Wednesday
The high is expected to move into the northern Tasman Sea overnight. Fine and
mostly sunny conditions are expected to continue in most areas with the
exception again being through Torres strait and over far northern Cape York
Peninsula where isolated showers and storms will occur. Isolated showers will
also begin to develop along the far northeast coast as the onshore airflow
freshens. Early morning fogs about the southern and central coasts. A warm day
in the west.
Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Fine and mostly sunny conditions will continue in most areas of the state.
Warm days in the west. However, with the high moving into and slowly across the
Tasman Sea, the SE winds onto the coast will become moister. As a result,
isolated showers will develop from Thursday onwards, initially on exposed parts
of the east tropical coast and then spreading southwards onto the southern
coast. Morning fogs will continue about parts of the east coast into the
weekend.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Sunday.
