MELBOURNE - May 5/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system just south of Tasmania will weaken on Sunday while a deeper low east of Sydney will move steadily southwards to be well southeast of Tasmania by Monday. A high pressure system will cross northern New South Wales on Monday to lie near Brisbane on Tuesday and Wednesday. A weak low pressure trough will cross southwestern Victoria late on Monday then a cold front will rapidly cross Bight waters on Tuesday but will also be weakening as it approaches Victoria. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers or drizzle in the south, scattered about the Central and South Gippsland districts. Mostly clear in the northeast but generally cloudy elsewhere. Light to moderate southwesterly winds.Sunday 6 MayLocal morning fog in the north and west and isolated early frost in the northeast. Isolated showers in the south, slowly contracting to the central and Gippsland coast towards evening. Cool and mainly cloudy in the south but a little milder with some sunshine in the north. Light to moderate west to southwest wind, fresh at first on the Gippsland coast but tending light northerly in the west late in the day.Monday 7 MayLocal morning fog and frost, mainly over the northeast. Isolated showers developing in the southwest and the chance of light afternoon showers in most other areas although mainly fine over Gippsland. A cool to mild day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds.Tuesday 8 MayA fine, mild to warm and mostly sunny day with northerly wind freshening in the west and south. Isolated showers developing in the southwest during the evening.Wednesday 9 MayFine over the far north and in East Gippsland. Cloudy elsewhere with isolated showers, mainly in the southwest.
