MELBOURNE - May 4/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high south of the continent extends a ridge into Queensland, while a strong surface trough well off the southeast coast is moving further out to sea. Forecast for the rest of Saturday Fine and sunny across all of the state except for a few isolated morning showers about the northeast coast and some isolated showers and thunderstorms over the Torres Strait and the northern reaches of Cape York Peninsula. Powerful surf developing along beaches south of Cape Moreton. Light to moderate SW to SE winds, fresh at times near the coast. Forecast for Sunday A high over New South Wales should maintain fine and sunny conditions over most of Queensland, except for some areas of high cloud late in the day over the southeast, and some isolated showers and thunderstorms over Torres Strait and the northern reaches of Cape York Peninsula. Areas of morning frost about the southeast and southern interior. Powerful surf south of Cape Moreton. Forecast for Monday A weak high over southeast Queensland is expected to maintain fine and mostly sunny conditions across Queensland, except for some isolated showers and thunderstorms over the Torres Strait and the northern reaches of Cape York Peninsula. Areas of morning frost about the southeast and southern interior. Forecast for Tuesday A weak high should remain over southeast Queensland, with fine and mostly sunny conditions set to continue across Queensland, except for isolated showers and thunderstorms over Torres Strait and the northern reaches of Cape York Peninsula. Areas of morning frost about the southeast and southern interior. Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Dry and mostly sunny conditions should continue over almost the whole state, with just isolated showers about northern Cape York Peninsula and Torres Strait, and isolated showers redeveloping about the east coast from Thursday.
