MELBOURNE - May 3/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system over Bass Strait will move southwards over Tasmania during Friday and then further south on Saturday. As the low moves away, a weak ridge of high pressure will move across the State over the weekend as another low pressure system off the New South Wales coast passes to the east of Victoria. The next cold front will cross waters south of the Bight during Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayEarly frost and local fog patches over the north. Rain over west Gippsland, easing to showers later in the day with further moderate falls. Scattered showers over remaining southern and mountain districts although dry over East Gippsland. Mostly dry over the northern plains with only isolated showers penetrating north of the divide during the afternoon. Cool with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times about the Gippsland coast.Saturday 5 MayMorning fog and frost patches over the north then fine and mostly sunny. Isolated showers over southern Victoria. Cool with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.Sunday 6 MayLocal morning fog and frost then fine and mostly sunny over the north. Isolated showers in the south . A cool to mild day with generally light winds.Monday 7 MayLocal morning fog and frost. Isolated showers over the southeast and later extending from the west.
