MELBOURNE - May 3/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough and associated cold front over central and northern parts of the state will contract to the northeast and move offshore overnight or Friday, with a high extending a ridge into western New South Wales. There are indications that a low will develop over the western Tasman Sea over the weekend keeping showers along some coastal parts. It is expected to eventually move southwards, though how quickly is currently uncertain. It is likely to remain sufficiently far offshore to only minimally affect the state's weather. At the same time the high is likely to move north over central Australia resulting in westerly winds and mostly dry weather over New South Wales into next week. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas in the northeast of the state, contracting further northeast overnight and easing to isolated showers. Isolated thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine in the west. Southeast to southwest winds.Friday 4 MayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, tending scattered near the coastal fringe. Fine and mainly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 5 MayIsolated on the south and central coasts. Fine elsewhere and sunny in most parts. Southwest to southeast winds.Sunday 6 MayChance of isolated showers in the far southeast. Fine and mainly sunny elsewhere.
