Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 2/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough and associated cold front over central and southeastern parts of the state will move slowly east overnight, before contracting to the northeast during Thursday. This system will bring rain and a cool southerly change to most districts, clearing from the west as the next high pressure system approaches. During this time a low is expected to develop near Tasmania, but is not likely to significantly influence the weather in New South Wales. There are indications that another low will develop over the western Tasman Sea later on the weekend keeping showers along some coastal parts, although it's position is currently uncertain.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine in the northeast, apart from isolated showers near the far north coast. Rain areas through central and southern parts, extending to the east overnight. Isolated thunderstorms about the central inland. The chance of late snow showers about the alpine peaks. Northeast to northwesterly winds, ahead of a south to southwesterly change extending from the west.Thursday 3 MayRain areas in the east, contracting to the northeast and easing to showers. Thunderstorms in the northeast, mainly in the afternoon. Possible showers about the southern alpine areas, falling as snow about the peaks. Fine and mostly sunny in the west. Southeast to southwest winds extending throughout.Friday 4 MayIsolated showers in the northeast, tending scattered near the coastal fringe. Fine and mainly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 5 MayIsolated showers in the northeast, tending scattered near the coastal fringe. The chance of a shower or two about the south coast and alpine areas. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds.Sunday 6 MayIsolated showers about the southern coast. Fine and mainly sunny elsewhere.
