Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 1/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system in the Tasman Sea will move slowly towards New Zealand tomorrow. A cold front will reach central districts overnight then clear eastern Victoria on Wednesday. A low pressure system is expected to form over eastern Bass Strait on Wednesday and intensify and move slowly on Thursday. The low should weaken and move into the Tasman Sea on Friday and Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of rain extending to central districts tonight. Remaining dry in the east. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds, ahead of a colder southwest change extending to central districts tonight.Wednesday 2 MayAreas of rain over central districts contracting to eastern areas during the morning with only isolated showers to follow in the southwest. Snowfalls possible above 1200m on the ranges. Cool with moderate to locally fresh southwesterly winds.Thursday 3 MayIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, scattered near the coast. Isolated thunderstorms about the ranges in the afternoon. Snowfalls possible above 1200m on the ranges, increasing to 1500m in the afternoon. Cool with moderate southwesterly winds.Friday 4 MayIsolated showers in the south. Cool with moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh near the coast.Saturday 5 MayIsolated showers, mainly in southern and mountain districts. Cool with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
