Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Apr 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system east of Bass Strait will move slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea today. A cold front will enter western Victoria late this afternoon or early evening, reaching central districts overnight then clearing eastern Victoria on Wednesday. A low pressure system is expected to form near Tasmania during Thursday and is likely to be slow moving during Friday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of rain developing in the southwest during the afternoon, extending to central districts at night. Remaining dry with high cloud about over the east. Mild with moderate to fresh north to northwest winds, ahead of a cooler southwest change extending over the west in the afternoon and evening.Fire Danger -  High in the west.Wednesday 2 MayAreas of rain over central districts contracting to eastern areas during the morning with only isolated showers to follow in the south. Cool to mild with moderate to locally fresh southwesterly winds.Thursday 3 MayIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, scattered near the coast. Isolated thunderstorms about the ranges in the afternoon. Cool with moderate southwesterly winds.Friday 4 MayScattered showers in the south, becoming isolated north of the ranges. Cool with moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
