MELBOURNE - Apr 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred over the Tasman Sea will continue to move eastward. A cold front is expected to move over the far west late this afternoon and evening and will then extend over the remainder of the State during Tuesday. A new high is expected to become established south of the Bight on Wednesday and will be slow moving for the following few days. Forecast for the rest of MondayCloud increasing in the west with patchy light rain developing over areas west of about Port Lincoln to Ceduna by late evening. Mild to warm with moderate northerly winds, freshening ahead of a milder southwest change in the far west during the evening.Tuesday 1 MayPatchy rain extending over agricultural areas ahead of a change reaching Adelaide to Whyalla around midday and Broken Hill to Leigh Creek in the evening. Isolated showers south of about Woomera to Broken Hill following the change, increasing to scattered showers over the agricultural area and the west coast. Possible isolated thunderstorms with the change. Mild with freshening northerly winds shifting cooler, moderate to fresh southwesterly following the change.Wednesday 2 MayIsolated showers clearing from the eastern districts, but persisting over the southern agricultural area and west coast. Cool with moderating south to southeast winds.Thursday 3 MayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and west coast. Isolated showers increasing to scattered for a period over the southeast. Cool to mild with light to moderate southeasterly winds.Friday 4 May Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area, increasing to scattered showers about southern coasts. Cool to mild with of light to moderate south to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday until midnight Friday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the agricultural area and the west coast with local falls reaching 10 to 20 mm over the southern coast and ranges, mostly falling on Tuesday. Less than 2 mm is expected elsewhere. Saturday until MondayIsolated showers about the southern agricultural area gradually contracting southwards.
