MELBOURNE - Apr 29/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system in the Bight is directing south to southwest winds and coastal showers over NSW as a small low off the northern NSW coast and a cold front in the Tasman Sea move eastward. As the high move eastwards into the Tasman Sea overnight coastal showers will become more isolated and the winds will ease. Another cold front is expected to move into southwestern NSW late Tuesday, bringing with it a rainband which will move eastwards over the following couple of days to affect most of the state. Dangerous surf conditions are expected as a long period swell develops along the NSW coast tonight and on Monday. Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers along the north coast, with isolated thunderstorms along the Northern Rivers coast. Isolated light showers along the remainder of the coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh and gusty along the coast.Monday 30 AprilIsolated showers along the north and central coasts and eastern side of the northern ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Early fog patches in the east. Southeast to northeast winds.Tuesday 1 MayIsolated morning showers along the coastal fringe in the north, extending to the adjacent ranges during the day. Isolated afternoon showers over the northern inland. Rain developing in the far southwest during the evening. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Early fog areas. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a gusty south to southwest change in the southwest later in the day..Wednesday 2 MayClearing early in the day in the southwest, but rain and thunderstorms developing over central parts and southeastern parts. Isolated showers on the northern coast and ranges. South to southwest winds extending over southern parts of the state, gusty along the coast. East to northeast winds in the northeast.Thursday 3 MayFine in the west. Rain in the east.
