southern Queensland and cool southerly winds across most of the state. An upper
level trough over the west of the state extends a cloud band over Queensland's
central and southeastern districts. A trough and low pressure system lies off
the Capricornia coast.

the central and southern interior. Moderate falls possible about the Wide Bay

showers and thunderstorms about the Peninsula district. Fine in the west. Cool
to cold across most of the state. Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh to
strong and gusty along the central and southern coasts.
Forecast for Sunday
The upper trough is expected to move steadily eastwards across the southern
districts, pushing the rain band offshore during the morning, though scattered
showers are expected to remain about the southeast with possible thunderstorms.
The high should move over Victoria and extend onshore winds and generally
isolated showers over remaining eastern districts, with scattered showers and
isolated thunderstorms over the Peninsula district. Fine and mostly sunny over
the interior. Temperatures remaining below average across most of the state.
Forecast for Monday
The high is expected to remain near Victoria and push onshore winds and
mainly isolated showers over Queensland's eastern districts. Scattered showers
and isolated thunderstorms over northern Cape York Peninsula. Fine and mostly
sunny over the interior. Temperatures remaining below average across most of the
state, though getting close to average near the coast.
Forecast for Tuesday
The high will move into the Tasman as another high pushes into the Bight.
Onshore winds will be maintained through eastern districts with isolated
showers. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over northern Cape York
Peninsula. Afternoon showers developing in the western areas as a new trough
enters the southwest of the state. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.
Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
The high is expected to move east towards New Zealand, maintaining an onshore
wind flow and showers across Queensland's eastern districts. Scattered showers
and isolated thunderstorms over northern Cape York Peninsula. An upper trough
will enter the west of the state on Wednesday generating showers and
thunderstorms over the interior. The upper trough will move eastwards later in
the week, with showers and storms extending to the east of the state by
Friday.
